STARTING THE SOC 2 JOURNEY

SOC 2 and compliance weren’t new concepts to Lennard Kooy, Founder and CEO at Lleverage.ai, who had been involved in numerous SOC 2 audits in previous software roles.
 
When asked why Lleverage.ai began the SOC 2 process, Lennard stated, “I knew that ISO 27001 and SOC 2 were enablers to work with bigger clients if you're a smaller company. And because the processes that we (Lleverage.ai) automate are often proprietary business processes that have proprietary information, we wanted to reassure clients that we are taking this seriously from the start,” he said.

DECIDING ON COMPLIANCE AND AUDIT PARTNERS

When it came time to start SOC 2, Lennard had already researched and signed with the compliance automation platform Drata. When they started looking for auditors, finding one that integrated with Drata was game-changing. Lennard was introduced to AssuranceLab by a partner firm currently completing the Lleverage.ai ISO 27001 audit.
 
“I've done a lot of audits in my previous companies, and you have a variety of auditors, the old school on one side and then the new wave on the other. It became apparent right from the start that AssuranceLab was on the new wave side, and this aligned with us.”

Lleverage.ai was able to complete its SOC 2 audit alongside its ISO 27001 audit, achieving both ahead of schedule. This was possible due to the cross-over of the frameworks and the efficiency gained from doing both side-by-side rather than one after the other.
