Guidelines for Certification Mark Usage

AssuranceLab is dedicated to upholding the integrity of its certification marks. Here are essential guidelines for the responsible use of the AssuranceLab Certification Mark by certified organizations.

This Rules for Marks and Logo Use provides basic information to organizations that have obtained certification of their management system (“Recipients”) regarding the authorized marketing of the certification and the use of the AssuranceLab Certification Mark (the “Mark”). These requirements were previously agreed upon as a condition of AssuranceLab’s acceptance of the engagement. Please contact your AssuranceLab counterpart if you have any questions or concerns.

The Recipient shall conform to the reasonable and mutually agreed requirements of AssuranceLab when referring to its certification status in communication media such as the Internet, brochures, advertising or other documents. The reference must include identification of the certified client; the type of management system and the applicable standard; and the certification body (AssuranceLab) issuing the certificate.

When referencing AssuranceLab CPAs LLC, the Recipient shall reference the certification body as follows: “AssuranceLab.”

The Recipient shall not make or permit any misleading statements regarding its certification. Furthermore, the Recipient shall not use or permit the use of a certification document, or any part thereof, in a misleading manner.

The Recipient shall, upon suspension or withdrawal of its certification, discontinue its use of all advertising matter that contains a reference to ISO certification and/or include a Mark.

The Recipient shall amend all relevant advertising material when the scope of certification has been modified.

The Recipient shall not allow reference to its information security management system certification to be used in such a way as to imply that AssuranceLab certifies a product, service, or process.

The Recipient shall not imply that the certification applies to activities that are outside the scope of audit.

The Recipient shall not use its certification in such a manner that would bring AssuranceLab and/or the certification system into disrepute or cause loss of public trust.

The Recipient shall use the Mark only in reference to the information security system certified by AssuranceLab.

The Recipient shall not use the certification mark in such a manner to be applied to laboratory test, calibration, or inspection reports or certificates.

The Recipient acknowledges that AssuranceLab has the right to suspend or withdraw certification if it finds that the Recipient has purposefully made incorrect references to the certification status or misleading use of certification documents, marks, or audit reports.

The Mark is a service mark of AssuranceLab. The Mark shall only be used during periods of active certification. The Mark may not be used in connection with any product or service that was not in scope of the certification review, or in any manner that is likely to cause confusion among customers, or in any manner that disparages or discredits AssuranceLab.

The Recipient may use any version of the Mark during periods of active certification. However, the Recipient shall not modify the form or colour of any Mark provided by AssuranceLab.

The Recipient shall not use any statement on product packaging or in accompanying information that may suggest that the product, process or service is certified by AssuranceLab. Product packaging is considered as that which can be removed without the product disintegrating or being damaged. Accompanying information is considered as separately available or easily detachable. Type labels or identification plates are considered part of the product. The statement shall in no way imply that the product, process, or service is certified by this means. The Recipient may however, reference that they possess a certified management system, subject to the following conditions:
  • The reference must clearly state that it pertains to the management system and not the product, process or service itself.
  • The statement should be phrased in a manner that accurately reflects the scope of the certification.
  • The use of AssuranceLab’s certification mark is not allowed on product packaging or accompanying information.

Any violation of these rules may result in corrective actions, up to and including suspension or revocation of certification, in accordance with AssuranceLab’s procedures.
